The Gear Jammer Motor Works is an unofficial Car Wars website where players of the game can trade vehicle designs, race track ideas, and pretty much anything pertaining to the Car Wars / Autoduel (non-GURPS) world. It is not affiliated with Steve Jackson Games in any way. Membership is perfectly free with nothing to buy.

First, you need to read our member agreement and find it agreeable.

Member Agreement

1.) COPYRIGHT POLICY: copyright for everything posted on Gear Jammers belongs to and is the responsibility of the poster. Do not post work which is not your own! You will respect and cherish the copyright of others. The only exception to this is the work of official car wars material whose copywrite belongs to Steve Jackson games or that of Autoduel Quarterly (ADQ) - all of which should be copied verbatim - and marked as company material. We hope this will be seen as "fair use" by the item's owners. Please realize that the Gear Jammer Motor Works is an unofficial Car Wars site and is in no way connected to nor represents Steve Jackson Games.

2.) USER ETIQUETTE: Despite the competitive nature of the game, please realize that Gear Jammers is a designer's co-op, the root of the word being cooperative. While you may comment on people's work it is understood that this is to be done with the designer's own best interests at heart. We reserve the right to delete any material and/or user accounts we find offensive, superfluous or disruptive.

3.) DEAD PROFILE TRIMMING: If half a year passes without any activity on your account we reserve the right to delete your profile/account in order to keep disk space low.

4.) CONTENT: No hate. No porn. No gore. We do allow for the uploading of images, and if these images contain risque material make sure it is no more revealing than what you might see at the beach or in a Victoria's Secret Catalog.

5.) AGE: You must be at least 18 years old to be a part of this site. Proceeding past this point certifies that you are 18. If you're less than 18 years old you probably have no idea what Car Wars is anyways and will be sorely disappointed when you find out, so don't bother.

6.) RIGHT TO DELETION: Gear Jammers has the right to obliterate (remove, delete, etc) anything on the site at any time and without warning, possibly even the site itself - not that it actually treasures the thought of doing so.

7.) KEEP BACKUPS: In light of our right to delete things you will always keep backup copies of all your work.

Second you need to pass this small entrance exam. Here's the jist of the matter. We use Car Wars material in our databases. We sought permission from Steve Jackson Games but they simply refuse to answer our email - possibly for legal reasons, who knows. So we justify our use by allowing in only those who can to some degree prove that they own the same set of rules Gear Jammers is based on, namely the 1989 Car Wars Compendium. All answers not pertaining to the site can be found in the Compendium, and -yes- this is an open book test.

7.) What is the targeting modifier on a Lamp Post (not that anyone in the history of the game has ever thought to target one)?	+4. A6. -3. -6.
