In computer years the ToAd is ancient. It began as an attempt to create the perfect role playing game out of what felt like the ashes of a dead issue back in 1993. It went online as a simple document download site in 1997. Over the years, ten different attempts at a character creation program (the ICE, aka Infernal Character Engine) were written and released before culminating with an online version (ICE 10, aka ToAd 1.0) in 2004. In July of 2005 it adopted Digital Pulp's membership system and became a working part of the Stone Soup Media Circle.
